Hi all, Just implemented a TS library at work, and am having difficulties getting VIO to work the way I wanted from the old library with TSM 5.

x, so wondering if someone have any insights to resolve my issue. TS have ALMS installed and VIO enabled. A logical library is created, and is set to associate of the tape volume FF to the logical library.

When I put the tapes into the library F70xxx , the library does move the tape from the IO slot into the library cell storage automatically.

However, when I performed a mtlib -l library -qI on the TSM server, it doesn't show up all of the tape volumes. Using the checkin and label command with TSM just returns error saying the tape volumes are not in the library.

Reviewing the TS web console, all the tape volumes are shown and assigned to the correct logical library, but I noticed only those tape volumes that have element address above are recognized by the mtlib command, while those that have element address range in the do not. vio server and vio client.

Joined Aug 24, Messages 7, Reaction score Points 0 Location Somewhere in the US. I had a TS with three logical libraries, ALMS enabled and connected to TSM and the Mainframe. Works with no issues. Last edited: Jan 1, moon-buddy, thanks for the reply but the logical library is set to associate with the correct tape volume range, and I can see that VIO indeed did associate the tape volumes to the correct logical library in the web interface after I put the tape into the library.

However the problem is some of the tapes are associated with address element less than they are associated with element address of around range , and as such it is also not recognized by TSM when perform the SCSI library checkin. It just keeps returning no volume found. I am able to correct the issue after I log onto the web interface, and manually select all those tapes that are in the element address around range and re-associate them to the logical library, which then puts their element address above and then TSM is able to perform the checkin.

At this time I think I'm missing some sort of command that can automate the reassignment of the element address of a tape. After re-reading the article, I think I might have found my issue.
